Biography of Samaris

Samaris Cassano was born in the lively city of Mayagüez on the beautiful Caribbean island of Puerto Rico.

Her career as a fashion model began at the tender age of five when she started modeling clothes for several local stores and chains.

A little later she began acting informally in the popular school plays. The first character she ever interpreted was Little Red Ridding Hood. She loved that first experience and it made her want to continue acting, so she acted in other school plays, such as the Pied Piper of Hameln.

At he age of 16 she entered the Puerto Rican beauty pageant, Miss Piel Canela Teenage and won. Later she studied acting at the Ateneo Puertorriqueño, at the Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueño, at the University of Puerto Rico and at the Universidad del Sagrado Corazón. Samaris also studied acting at the Colegio de Artes y Ciencias de la Televisión, with the director of comedies of the famous TV show Sábado Gigante, Patricio Torres.

Not satisfied with all her previous studies in acting, Samaris decided to move to Los Angeles in California to study at the New York Film Academy. Samaris had the great opportunity and privilege of acting with Roberto Ramos Perea and Rafael Acevedo. She has also acted for Sábado Gigante, in the TV soap opera Angel Revelde, in several Puerto Rican productions and in films in English that have competed in festivals throughout the United States.

Samaris is a song writer and a singer since she was only eight years of age. She has composed more than 300 songs. Her most recent production, the CD Samaris, contains 12 of her songs. Samaris has sung in great concerts in California and the "West Coast" of the United States.

Recently she wrote a book titled Historias de la Gitana that was a bestseller in Puerto Rico. She has also written for several newspapers of Puerto Rico and some international magazines.

Samaris has made ads for Verizon, Avon, Heinz and other great companies.

She designs her own clothes and accessories ... and plans to market her original lines soon.

Currently Samaris is promoting her new CD Samaris. She has recently visited a few countries and plans to visit several other countries of Latin America and Europe to promote her new production.
